The next time you pass by someone riding their bicycle, take a moment to think about whether or not you're safely sharing the road with them. Most motorists don't follow some important safety rules that can keep everyone safe during their commute.

Never choose to speed by a bicyclist. You should reduce your speed, and wait until you can move around them with a minimum of three feet in between the two of you.

Keep in mind that little kids on their bikes are even harder to see if your mirrors. Always do a double check when you're on side streets where a lot of bicyclists frequent.

Check your side mirrors before opening up your car door when parked. You want to make sure there isn't a bicyclist coming by that could hit your door if you open it too quickly.
